Yamaha's first golf cart was the G1. It was developed in 1979 and was the first 2 stroke cart to have and oil bump and electric start. The G1 is still a solid cart to this day. Next came the G2 that was the first golf cart to come out with a over head valve motor and also first cart to introduce injected mold body front and back body. Next came the G3 and the G5 which was the birth of a new generation that came 20 years ahead of their time. It was the birth of the first street legal cart, the Sun Classic. The Sun Classic included headlights, tail lights, blinkers, brake lights and a tempered glass windshield. The Sun Classic came in 2 stroke, 4 stroke and electric. Then in 1990 they came out with the G8 that only lasted a year then they came back out with the G9 witch was a modern day version of the G2. The next carts available were the G14 through G22 which were the next generation of Yamaha. These carts were the foot steps to the Drive.
